Buyer-side service · Tangshan, China
China steel factory inspection and sourcing, verified on site in Tangshan
We walk galvanized coil, colour-coated coil, pipe and structural steel factories across Tangshan and the surrounding Hebei steel belt. You get a recorded walkthrough, on-site verification of who is really behind the quotation, and a written English report — commissioned by you, not by the factory.
Three ways buyers use us
Most bad steel purchases are not a product problem, they are an information problem. You cannot see the plant, you cannot read the paperwork, and the person answering your email may not be the mill at all.
From your first message to a report in about a week
A short, predictable sequence. You always know the stage, what we are waiting for, and what it costs before we start.
Send the brief
Product, specification, quantity, destination port and the factory or trading company you are considering. A quotation or business licence helps.
We confirm scope and a fixed fee
You get a written scope: which site, which questions, what the recording covers, what the report contains, the fee and the timing. No fee until you approve.
Visit and record
Two to four hours on site: gate, licence, yard, line, quality control, packing and loading. We ask your questions on camera and film equipment name plates.
Report and debrief
Within three to five working days you receive the video and the written English report, plus a short call to put the findings in context.
Why a Tangshan desk beats a remote middleman
Tangshan is one of China's major steel production areas, and also a dense, confusing market: real mills, coating plants, slitting lines and hundreds of trading offices that look alike on a website. Being there physically is the difference between a plausible answer and a verified one.
- Same-day reach. Qian'an, Fengnan, Fengrun and Lubei are a short drive apart, so one trip can cover two candidate plants.
- We know a mill from a trader. The same yard is often presented by several companies. We check who processes, who slits or coats, and who is a broker.
- Real language. We negotiate coating mass, tolerance class, surface finish and packing standard in the terms mills actually use.
- Independent of the seller. You commission and pay us. We are not the factory's agent and take no commission from it.
- Built around your hours. We work to Gulf, North African and East African business hours, not only Beijing time.
The categories we inspect most often
We are not a mill and we do not represent one. We inspect the plants that make these products and help you buy from them with fewer surprises. Each page below explains what we actually look for.
Galvanized steel coil
Hot-dip galvanized coil and sheet: zinc coating mass, spangle, surface condition and whether the line really galvanizes.
Prepainted and colour-coated coil
PPGI and PPGL: coating thickness, film adhesion, batch-to-batch colour consistency and the curing oven actually running.
Steel pipes and fittings
ERW, SSAW and seamless pipe plus elbows, tees and flanges: which standard the line is set up for and test capability.
What this service is — and what it is not
We would rather lose a job than be misunderstood. A factory inspection is commercial due diligence carried out on your behalf. It reduces your information gap; it does not eliminate commercial risk, and it is not a substitute for certification or independent testing.
What we do
- Visit the site, record it and report factually on what we saw
- Verify legal identity, address, equipment and stated capacity against the site
- Translate your specification into mill-standard Chinese and relay answers in English
- Flag inconsistencies, vague claims and documents we could not confirm
What we do not do
- Certify, accredit or approve a supplier — we are not a certification body
- Guarantee product quality, conformity or on-time delivery
- Replace laboratory testing, mill certificates or third-party inspection
- Hold or guarantee payments, or act as a party to your sales contract
Disclaimer. Reports reflect conditions observed at the time of the visit and information made available by the supplier on that date. They are not a warranty, certification or quality guarantee, and create no obligation on future production, delivery or contractual performance.
Large orders. For significant value or high-specification orders we recommend an independent pre-shipment inspection and laboratory testing by a third party such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or TUV.
Before you write to us
What exactly does a factory inspection include?
A visit to the plant in Tangshan or the surrounding Hebei steel belt, typically two to four hours on site. We record a continuous video walkthrough of the gate, licence, stock yard, production line, quality control area and packing area, verify the company identity and equipment against the site, and photograph documents where the factory allows it. You receive the video and a written English report within three to five working days.
Is this the same as a certificate or a quality guarantee?
No. Our work is commercial due diligence carried out on your behalf. A report records what we saw and verified on a given date. It is not a certification, an accreditation, a test report or a guarantee of future product quality. For significant orders we recommend an independent pre-shipment inspection and laboratory testing by a third party such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek or TUV.
Which factories can you visit?
Tangshan and the surrounding Hebei steel belt, including Qian'an, Fengnan, Fengrun and Lubei, plus nearby Tianjin and Cangzhou. If your candidate supplier is outside this area, tell us the city and we will confirm whether we can cover it and what it would cost.
How much does an inspection cost?
We quote a fixed fee after the scope is confirmed, because cost depends on travel distance, number of sites, how long the factory allows us on site and whether you need video, document verification or both. You approve the written scope and the fee before we travel. We do not publish a low headline price and then add extras.
How quickly can you go?
On-site visits in Tangshan are typically arranged within two to five working days, subject to the factory's availability. The written report normally follows within three to five working days of the visit. Peak season and plant shutdowns affect scheduling.
Can the inspection be confidential?
Yes. We can visit without naming you, keep the recording unpublished and restrict the report to your company. If a factory refuses recording or asks for a non-disclosure agreement, tell us before scheduling and we will agree the approach in writing.
